I myself believe this painting to have been painted by PAUL KLEE in 1928.

I would guess the lady that had purchased this painting more than likely from the artist himself said to him.  I don't see your signature, will you sign it for me? I'd also guess he had a felt pen in hand and leand it to himself and reach down and signed it on the back as you see it.  86 th painting done in the year of 28 by P K  standing for Paul Klee and that was good enough for her as she watch him sign the work with her own eyes.

  It looks to me to be very much in his own style from 1925-8 which I'll show you below. Besides the painting did happen to come from a real nice household estate sale which I handled personally in 1979-80. I purchased the entire household from the bank who handled the estate here at Nampa, Idaho.  At that time I was the owner of Miller's Auction Service in Caldwell , Idaho.  I have owned this painting now myself since 1980 thirty two years ago since its purchase.

A few years ago I did send pictures of it to the Klee Foundation and their answer back was that it was not Paul Klee. They said it wasn't his style of paintings and that he didn't paint anything that big.  Another expert said that everything he did was signed on the front with a letter Y for the year followed by the date with a number indicating the amount of paintings that he had done for that year.

 

This above seemingly looks to be the subject matter of my own painting that I own above showing his conglomerate of paintings in his art studio

I looked at many of his works of art in the books that I bought on his this artists works, and I say this is not the case. This was only one of the episodes in the beginning of my artistic studies and the beginning of my own tremendous dislike and non respect for the so-called expertise of these artist foundations.

The bank told me that all the living family was out of state and in professional fields and couldn't be bothered with the loose ends of the estate. I purchased all the household furniture, lamps, carpets, bedroom sets, appliances, kitchen items, garage items, all the wall accessories and this oil painting which I was told at the time that it was purchased from some Swiss artist in Europe some time back. 

    Of the thing that the family didn't want to keep, many families would have cut off their right arm to own. That was one of my biggest win fall I had in the four years of the auction business over  25 years ago.  My wife had left me at that time and took my two children with her back to Long Beach California over the fragility's of the auction business.  My girlfriend at that time after my wife leaving me just had to have the French provincial furniture and lamps from the 30's or early 40's, mirrors and what ever else she manage to get her hands on for her new apartment.    Even then, I more than tripled  my money from the items that I had auctioned off.

I had the painting stored for many years now because I believed the artist to have been a gifted one, and kept the painting instead of auctioning it off.  I had  kept the painting wrapped in plastic until a couple of years ago. The canvas and paint are in very good condition as they were at the time of purchase.

I was just wondering to myself, who in the world would include a look-a-like Paul Klee portrait in this work of art, if not by his own hand?

After wanting to save my marriage my girlfriend left me for another man.  She eventually married him,  I did get back with my wife after promising her I would get out of the auction business when my lease was up and concentrate on our used appliance business.  What things a person has to do and put up with to be able to keep their family together.  Best thing that ever happened.
